ACSPN Holds Climate Change Reporting Workshop

In view of the trend in global climate change and challenges of effective environmental reporting, the Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria (ACSPN) South-South zone in collaboration with the Climate Interactive, USA, and the Centre 4 Gender, Climate Education & Solutions (C4GCES), recently held a Capacity Building/Training programme for Media Practitioners and Environmental Journalists on World Climate Simulation and C-Roads at Seko hotel, Warri, Delta State, Nigeria.

Participants at the event were updated on the new approaches to reporting climate change issues with specific objective of drawing the attention of Nigerians to global best practices in handling environmental issues.  The lead facilitators at the workshop were President of ACSPN, Prof. Lai Oso and Director, 4GCES, Dr. Vincent Ojeh.

The one-day event had participants from media organisations, media managers, journalists, communication professionals and scholars.

The workshop is part of a larger effort across Africa, where Climate Interactive is partnering with the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in Morocco to build the capacity of African climate leaders by supporting them to use science-based decision-making tools.
